Life’s too short to make your own pastry

We had an interesting conversation in our leadership journey today about personal strengths and weaknesses, which ended up with somebody quoting Delia (for apparently it was she who made the comment about pastry).

Instead of trying to ‘fix’ the things we can’t do, why not focus on what we can do and ‘outsource’ the rest?  If it’s part of your job description and yet you still struggle to either complete the task or find the enthusiasm for it, consider having a conversation with your line manager about who else could potentially carry it out, and what you might offer in exchange.

After all, life is short, and shouldn’t we spend it doing what we love?
